Lizzie qualified as a physiotherapist in 2007 and spent the first three years of her career at York District Hospital Foundation Trust working in all core areas of physiotherapy including: musculoskeletal outpatients, orthopaedics, respiratory care, stroke rehabilitation, neuro- degenerative outpatients, intermediate care and elderly medicine, developing her skills amongst some of the best mentors the area had to offer.
With a passion for the outdoors Lizzie then moved to the Lake- District in 2011 and accepted the position of Specialist Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist for Cumbria Partnership NHS Foundation Trust gaining valuable experience treating musculoskeletal injuries from GP and orthopaedic referrals. Alongside her NHS job Lizzie did an evening clinic at the Nuffield Gym rehabilitating sports injuries and insurance cases.
In 2014 Lizzie took up the position of Clinical Lead Physiotherapist in an occupational health setting. This has allowed her to further develop her assessment and treatment skills in a completely new environment and by her own admission has improved her success in patients meeting their goals. Alongside this Lizzie works part time here at Physio Furness First.
Lizzie has completed extensive post graduate training including a diploma in musculoskeletal medicine, acupuncture certification, pilates, manual therapy, kinesiotaping and occupational health courses.
Being very modest it will take some digging to get Lizzie to admit that she has been an elite athlete, competing at national and international level in many different running disciplines. This experience has allowed her to gain valuable knowledge of the varying stresses that are placed on our bodies and therefore what is required to rehabilitate the injury to achieve optimal performance. She compliments this with excellent hands on skills, is an experienced acupuncturist and has exemplary exercise prescription.
