We pride ourselves on our team of professional physiotherapists who believe in a hands on, evidence based approach to treating musculoskeletal injuries.

All our therapists have a background in sport or exercise and understand your needs  to stay active and get back doing what you enjoy as quickly as possible.

Our physiotherapists believe in giving you as much treatment as is necessary to reach your goals whilst giving you the tools to understand and manage any complaints you may have.

Mark Coulson, Chartered Physiotherapist/ Sports Therapist.

BSC (HONS) Physiotherapy. MCSP.  HCPC. AACP.

Mark graduated initially with a degree in sports therapy in 1998. Mark gained extensive experience as a sports therapist working as the lead clinician for a professional rugby league team and treating  local athletes.

To further his professional development and expertise Mark then underwent a degree in physiotherapy from Sheffield Hallam University where he graduated in 2009. This experience allowed Mark to provide expert assessment and treatment of complex,  musculoskeletal conditions in his chosen field of private, physiotherapy practice.

Since qualifying as a physiotherapist Mark has undertaken extensive post graduate training in order to keep his knowledge and skills up to date of the most effective, evidence based treatments. This training has included obtaining the highly regarded diploma in musculoskeletal medicine, acupuncture qualifications and numerous short courses with top orthopaedic consultants and musculoskeletal experts in their field.

Mark shares this knowledge with the rest of the team where he leads the in-house in-service training programme.

Mark himself has been a top sports man within rugby league and now can be seen enjoying spinning and yoga sessions in Ulverston.

Lizzie Browne

BSC (HONS) Physiotherapy. MCSP.  HCPC. AACP. ACPOHE.

Lizzie qualified as a physiotherapist in 2007 and spent the first three years of her career at York District Hospital Foundation Trust working in all core areas of physiotherapy including: musculoskeletal outpatients, orthopaedics, respiratory care, stroke rehabilitation, neuro- degenerative outpatients, intermediate care  and elderly medicine, developing her skills amongst some of the best mentors the area had to offer.

With a passion for the outdoors Lizzie then moved to the Lake- District in 2011 and accepted the position of Specialist Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist for Cumbria Partnership NHS Foundation Trust  gaining valuable experience treating musculoskeletal injuries from GP and orthopaedic referrals. Alongside her NHS job Lizzie did an evening clinic at the Nuffield Gym rehabilitating sports injuries and insurance cases.

In 2014  Lizzie  took up the position of Clinical Lead Physiotherapist in an occupational health setting. This has allowed her to further develop her assessment and treatment skills in a completely new environment and by her own admission has improved her success in patients meeting their goals. Alongside this Lizzie works part time here at Physio Furness First.

Lizzie has completed extensive post graduate training including a diploma in musculoskeletal medicine, acupuncture certification, pilates, manual therapy, kinesiotaping and  occupational health courses.

Being very modest it will take some digging to get Lizzie to admit that she has been an elite athlete, competing at national and international level in many different running disciplines.  This experience has allowed her to gain valuable knowledge of the varying stresses that are placed on our bodies  and therefore what is required to rehabilitate the injury to achieve optimal performance. She compliments this with excellent hands on skills, is an experienced acupuncturist and has exemplary exercise prescription.
